The Record
Hogan Grip joins Junior85’s Tony Higgins with DeclanQKelly for an EP rooted in hurried improvisation and a borrowed golf-book vocabulary. Kelly played keys and guitar; Higgins played drums, bass and keys, recording the main parts in his sitting room before adding instrumentation and mastering in his bedroom. The source describes an August 20, 2010 launch in Galway. Ben Hogan’s Power Golf supplied the track titles, except ‘Stance Gives You Power,’ which arose from a misremembered phrase. Three interludes separate the longer pieces, giving this seven-track edition its distinctive arrangement of playing advice and music.
