Takedown Requests

Every title we publish carries a documented public-domain rationale on its own film page — the publication date, renewal search, and (for films with a score) the separate audio verification that led us to include it. If you think we've gotten one wrong, we want to know.

How to file a claim

Email [email protected] with the film's title and URL on this site, and tell us what's wrong: a specific renewal record, a foreign rights claim, evidence the score or a restoration is still under copyright, or anything else that bears on the film's status. The more specific, the faster we can act.

What happens next

We read every claim against the rationale already published for that title. If a claim points to something we missed or got wrong, we correct it — promptly, and without argument. If a claim is against a title whose public-domain status we've already documented and the claim doesn't add anything new, we reply with that documentation rather than removing the film automatically. This isn't stonewalling: false and speculative takedown claims against genuinely public-domain films are extremely common, and blanket auto-removal would let anyone censor material they have no rights to. Every title stays reviewable, and every rationale stays public, so you can check our work yourself.
