The Record
Ian Hawgood’s Enfants Ruraux is described by 12rec as an analog-instrument album connected with childhood, elementary tones and travel. The source names piano and acoustic guitar alongside borrowed pump organ, chimes, violins and trumpets, and says much of the recording took place in Pennsylvania and on trains to and from New York City. Sixteen pieces include French, Japanese, Spanish and English titles, with field recordings linked to different places in the artist’s account. One long track name explicitly mentions Brian singing in New York. The documented locations provide context without assigning every individual piece a specific session or instrument lineup.
