The Record
John Mayer’s August 1, 2008 performance moves between his own songs and a clearly labeled group of covers. ‘Bigger Than My Body’ and ‘Belief’ open the show; ‘Crossroads’ comes early, while Duffy’s ‘Mercy,’ Tom Petty’s ‘Free Falling’ and Stevie Ray Vaughan’s ‘Cold Shot’ appear later in the supplied setlist. ‘No Such Thing into Why Georgia’ is presented as a combined sequence, and ‘Gravity’ closes the recording. ‘Vultures,’ ‘Waiting on the World to Change’ and ‘In Your Atmosphere (LA Song)’ sit near the end, extending the sixteen-part program before its Vaughan cover and closing ‘Gravity.’
