The Record
Lee Rosevere’s Ding-A-Ling is a collection of ringtones designed to repeat continuously or play once, according to the release note. Its twenty short pieces include explicitly labeled ringtone versions of ‘Aphelion’ and ‘Gilding The Lily,’ alongside names such as ‘Portable Cancer Box,’ ‘Portamento Pizzi’ and ‘Requiem for Twitter.’ That functional format is important: these entries are not presented as full-length versions of the compositions where the titles themselves specify an edit. The source credits artwork obtained from schnaars through Flickr, with further design credited to LR, keeping the image’s origin separate from the audio’s purpose.
