The Record

Moby describes Long Ambients 1: Calm. Sleep. as music made for rest, meditation and other quiet moments. His own announcement explains the decision to give away several hours of recordings and specifies the absence of drums and vocals. That stated purpose distinguishes the project from a conventional song-length electronic album.

The eleven-piece reference uses the simple names “LA1” through “LA11.” Their order, durations and uninterrupted forms are more useful identifiers than invented descriptive subtitles. This is the first Long Ambients collection, with its own sequence; a sequel or a streaming playlist should not supply replacement tracks for the original release.

Transfer Report

Selected edition: Original eleven-piece program; Wikimedia Commons MP3 originals, measured variable 108–174 kb/s from the documented source. 11 audio files, 275,073,934 bytes and 244:52 of measured audio.

Verification: Wikimedia Commons published original file SHA-1 and size; uploader cites artist giveaway (not artist byte identity); full audio decode; every torrent piece. The seedbox copy matched every file’s SHA-256 and every torrent piece; all files passed public HTTPS range, length and byte checks. The house client verified the complete payload and is seeding it.

All eleven originals independently match the current Wikimedia Commons published original SHA-1 and exact size. The complete LA1–LA11 program matches the artist album sequence, and embedded title, album, year and positions 1/11 through 11/11 agree. Every file passed strict full decoding and every torrent piece was verified. Actual MP3 variable bitrates measure 108–174 kb/s; source tags and original provider byte pins establish a complete mirrored program, with uploader provenance limits explicit.

Reference edition: the 11-entry source sequence. This release sequence was used to review the selected files.

Source limits: Commons published original SHA-1 and sizes pin mirrored files; those checksums are provider checksums, not artist checksums; Complete original eleven-piece source program by title and published mirrored file identity; comparative listening and independently authenticated artist byte identity are not claimed; No comparative listening assessment is claimed; The uploader public-domain assertion is not adopted; approved historical-giveaway metadata retains copyright and records informal sharing permission; Wikimedia Commons originals cite the artist WeTransfer offer; the uploader provenance is not independently authenticated artist byte identity.

These are source and file checks; no comparative listening assessment is claimed.
