The Record
photophob’s about the living things uses biological names to frame a calmer electronic release than the artist’s breakbeat-oriented work, according to Laridae’s note. The description imagines early life and organisms, while the eight-entry sequence starts with ‘intro’ and continues through ‘isopoda,’ ‘cyanophyceae’ and ‘nematoda.’ ‘phlebotomus papatasi,’ ‘nemobius sylvestris’ and ‘acari’ precede the final ‘hyperia macrocephala.’ The label calls the music a soundtrack for a nonexistent film, connecting the organism-themed names with an imagined audiovisual setting and a less beat-intensive electronic approach.
