The Record
Bristol musician and illustrator Rob Hunter made this seven-track EP after an earlier cassette on Tapeclub Records. The 12rec notes identify his own artwork and a practice of layering available instruments, with drum-machine rhythm, Rhodes chords and synthesizers in ‘Spectrum,’ acoustic guitar in ‘Waiting,’ and vocals in ‘Spill.’ ‘Four’ appears fifth, followed by ‘First Day Back’ and ‘Champion.’ Hunter’s artwork and his use of available instruments connect the sleeve with the music’s DIY construction. Drum machine, Rhodes, synthesizer, guitar and voice give the label’s account several specific arrangement points across the seven tracks.
