The Record

Sleepy Town Manufacture’s Hello And Goodbye EP returns the Russian project to Monotonik roughly six years after its initial label releases. Four pieces form the sequence: ‘Trem,’ ‘Oopon,’ ‘Zzujd’ and the closing title track. The label distinguishes the more angular ‘Zzujd’ from the surrounding laid-back electronic material and describes chord, percussion and phasing elements elsewhere. Monotonik’s account moves from the EP’s chord and percussion material toward the sharper ‘Zzujd,’ before the title piece closes the sequence. That four-part return follows a long interval in the project’s label history.
