netBloc Volume 3: La Plus Belle Guerre (2007)

Various Artists · 2007 · 47 min

blocSonic's third netBloc compilation frames free netaudio discovery as a cultural argument about music circulation. La Plus Belle Guerre assembles ten selections plus a bonus, moving among rock, pop, electronic music, trip-hop, hip-hop, metal and jazz according to its release statement. Contributors include Camp, Thierry Blanchard, Red Unit, Transient, Aerotrio and Ghostown. Ghostown appears twice: “Johnny Marr” is in the main sequence, while its “Psycho Killer” version is explicitly a 2006 bonus. Nic Bommarito's extended netBloc edit of “Arvo Pärt” is also edition-specific, making the exact versions more useful than a generic various-artists label.
