The Series
A man shoots at a rabbit, misses, hits oil, and moves his family to Beverly Hills. Paul Henning's premise is stated inside ninety seconds of the pilot and never needs restating, which is part of why The Beverly Hillbillies was the most-watched programme in America within a month of its September 1962 premiere and stayed near the top for most of a decade. Critics loathed it on arrival and have been catching up ever since.
What survives is not the fish-out-of-water joke, which is thin, but the cast playing it. Buddy Ebsen underplays Jed to the point of stillness — he is the straight man to an entire zip code and never raises his voice. Irene Ryan's Granny is a genuinely dangerous woman with a shotgun and a licence to practise medicine she does not have. Donna Douglas plays Elly May as unimpressed rather than slow, which is a much better choice, and Max Baer Jr. commits to Jethro's fifth-grade education with no visible embarrassment. Raymond Bailey's banker, whose panic drives more plots than the Clampetts do, is the show's secret engine. Bea Benaderet's Cousin Pearl, in the early run, is doing something sadder and better than the material asks for.
The first two seasons are here up to the point where the copyright record stops them. Season one is complete; season two runs to The Race for Queen and no further. Each episode is its own torrent.

Verified episode by episode against the primary record. Filmways TV Productions, Inc. registered the series with the Copyright Office as a published motion picture, episode by episode, in association with the CBS Television Network — the Catalog of Copyright Entries carries the whole run under the claimant's name with a copyright date and an LP number for each instalment. That matters more than it sounds: a series that was only broadcast and syndicated was never published, never needed renewing, and would still be in copyright today no matter what any public-domain list claims.
Renewal is where the run stops. A sweep of the Copyright Office's own post-1978 records for Filmways returns a single batch of episode renewals, filed on 18 February 1992, and it begins exactly at the 1963/64 publication seam. Everything copyrighted in 1962 and 1963 lapsed; everything copyrighted in 1964 was renewed and is still protected. In broadcast terms that is all thirty-six episodes of season one and the first nineteen of season two — fifty-five here — with the remaining seventeen of season two withheld. The gaps in the run are listed rather than passed over.
The music is a separate matter, and it did not lapse. Hen-Ten Corporation, as employer for hire of Paul Henning, renewed nine compositions used by this series in 1990 and 1991, and they remain in copyright. We do not alter prints, so that music ships with these episodes and every page says which. The full list is on each episode's page.
Underneath, the teleplays are original and no renewal of one surfaced under any credited writer.
