The Record
Beak’s Amoral Mayor Earwig EP pairs multitracked acoustic guitars with electronics in a selection made from a larger, largely unreleased body of work. Monotonik’s description identifies spoken-word layering in the title piece, a short phasing interlude in ‘yellow hat’ and a more acoustic closing ‘candrea444.’ ‘how a hot air balloon works’ and ‘i saw two of me’ form the opening pair. The selection combines older work and new material around Beak’s acoustic-electronic approach. Monotonik describes ‘Yellow Hat’ as a brief phasing interlude and ‘Candrea444’ as a more strongly acoustic closing piece.
