Claudio Nuñez’s Love Hurts documents five real-time compositions for solo classical guitar. The artist’s statement calls it the other side of The Tension of the Strings, recorded on the same day, with extended techniques and a stronger emphasis on melodic and romantic material. The sequence pairs ‘Love i’ with ‘Love ii’ and ‘Life i’ with ‘Life ii’ before ending with ‘Death.’ That small, symmetrical set of titles frames a single-instrument session; its stylistic breadth comes from the performer’s account of harmonic, rhythmic and textural exploration, within the solo-guitar setting.
