The Record
Elliott Smith's Wiltern recording is a compact nine-song program beginning with “Let's Get Lost” and “Don't Go Down.” “Passing Feeling,” “Strung Out Again” and “Pretty (Ugly Before)” occupy its middle, followed by “True Love,” “Shooting Star,” “Twilight” and “Little One.” The taper's notes describe selecting manual levels on a Sony Minidisc recorder and choosing a central position with workable sound. The Wiltern performance dates to November 2001. Its nine-song scale puts “Pretty (Ugly Before)” near the middle and leaves “Twilight” and “Little One” to close the appearance.
