The Record

Izmar’s Secular EP gives Monotonik another release from the Dutch producer, whom the label connects with its earlier Monotonik and Mono211 catalogs. The notes emphasize a natural, jam-like approach to electronics, specifically identifying keyboards, drums and sitar. ‘Opening’ introduces the five-track sequence, ‘Funky Sitar’ makes the instrumental reference explicit, and ‘My Bossa’ sits among its later pieces. ‘Before Walking’ precedes the closing ‘Blabla2a.’ Monotonik describes bell sounds in that final piece, following the sitar-led track and the keyboard-and-drum material that begins the EP. Those instrumental details connect its varied five-part program.
