The Record
Just Plain Ant’s Songs About Something XE launches blocSonic’s expanded-edition series with the earlier Just Plain Sounds album and a second disc of new songs and remixes. The label explains that its initial plan to revive inactive-label releases broadened to include this still-active catalog. The twenty-eight entries include work by Richmond remixers Annu, Oh.Bliv, Sleaze and Rowan, alongside Ant’s own revisions. Paired-part titles and ‘Untitled #0’ remain meaningful identifiers. The source frames the music as trip-hop and downtempo, distinguishing this archival-plus-new presentation from the producer’s earlier hip-hop-centered Dig Deep without assuming the albums share the same performers.
