Skism EP (2005)

Skism · 2005 · 33 min

Skism’s EP survives a loss of working files: the 12rec notes say David’s computer replacement left only a few mixdowns, which Dataman subsequently mastered. The source warns that some unwanted crackling may remain. Ten tracks mix the electronic hip-hop approach described by the label with short interlude-like pieces including ‘GBS’ and ‘Stodj,’ ending with ‘Shell (Swift Mix).’ ‘Cylinder,’ ‘Surfaise’ and ‘Melt’ appear early in the sequence. Dataman’s mastering belongs to that recovery of the remaining mixdowns. The brief ‘GBS’ and ‘Stodj’ pieces break up the longer tracks, with ‘Shell (Swift Mix)’ giving the ten-part EP an explicitly versioned ending.
