The Weeknd released Thursday on the night of August 18, 2011, as the second installment of his first mixtape trilogy. The FADER's next-morning report describes the rush to the singer's website, its crash and the alternate links that followed. That distribution history is part of the release: listeners first encountered it as a complete download shared across websites and social posts.

The nine tracks begin with “Lonely Star” and “Life of the Party.” Drake appears on “The Zone”; the two “Birds” tracks sit together later in the sequence, followed by “Gone,” “Rolling Stone” and “Heaven or Las Vegas.” The release credits connect the project to producers Doc McKinney and Illangelo.

This page follows the original nine-track mixtape. The later Trilogy edition appends “Valerie,” which belongs to that reissue rather than this August release. Keeping the editions distinct preserves the original closing song and the sequence between the first and third mixtapes.
