The Record
Ckid's Down with Ghosts returns René Margraff to Monotonik after earlier releases as Crashkid and Ckid and physical issues on Becalmed and Duotone. The label describes whispered and chanted voices within electronics informed by a shoegaze-like approach. Eleven pieces move from “From a to z” and the title track through “Empty Carpark,” “Even Smaller” and “Time Monsters,” then toward “Blink,” “Closed” and “Ghost4.” The release essay specifically names vocals, guitars and vocoder in the final Ghosts-related piece.
