The Record
Felipe Sarro performs this program on a Grotrian-Steinweg Concertino piano, beginning with Bach’s fourth French Suite before moving through a sinfonia and a Well-Tempered Clavier prelude. Nine later pieces are identified as Alexander Siloti transcriptions, bringing cantata, violin, flute, cello and orchestral material into a solo-piano setting. The eighteen indexed movements preserve work numbers and arrangement credits, which are essential to distinguishing the repertoire. The accompanying notes discuss Bach-attribution questions for some selections, adding repertoire context to Sarro’s keyboard arrangements. Work numbers, movement names and named arrangers place each piece within this broad piano program.
