The Record
James Kibbie’s Bach concerti collection belongs to his larger project recording the composer’s organ works on original Baroque organs in Germany. The selected program covers BWV 592 through BWV 596 in fourteen indexed movements, retaining work numbers, keys and movement directions. BWV 595 appears as one entry, while a combined ‘Grave / Fuga’ entry keeps two movements of BWV 596 together in a single file. The concerto group brings five Bach work numbers together, with their movement headings showing the alternating fast and slow sections. BWV 596’s combined ‘Grave / Fuga’ passage is followed by its ‘Largo e spiccato’ and closing Allegro.
