The Record
James Gardner's Giraffe project expands beyond the acoustic setting of the earlier Dusty Window EP on Giraffe LP. The 12rec description traces a turn toward electric guitar, woodwinds, programmed beats and field recordings. “Pistol,” “Bullet Train” and “Executioner's Blues” sit in a twelve-track program ending with “The Virus Left Behind.” This release's interest lies in that documented change of instrumentation, not simply its resemblance to another folk songwriter. The source recording and release notes document this edition.
