The Record

One man in Ontario with a home studio, a self-deprecating band name and a decision, in 2001, to put the source files for every song online so anyone could remix them — years before that was a thing bands did. I Don't Know What I'm Doing collected the results in 2003: twelve tight, hooky power-pop songs with drum machines and real guitars, about anxiety and bad decisions, and a CC ShareAlike licence that made Brad Sucks the most-remixed artist on ccMixter and the case study Creative Commons itself reaches for when it explains the music side. Making Me Nervous and Dirtbag are the ones people know; Overreacting is the one to play someone who thinks free music means amateur music.

Forty minutes. Turcotte has since remastered it and it is on every streaming service; this is the original release as it circulated.

Transfer Report

Chosen copy: the Jamendo mirror on the Internet Archive, item jamendo-003798 — 12 MP3 files, contiguously numbered 01.mp312.mp3, 60 MB, 40 min, with the album's License.txt and Readme.txt and the cover art. The track titles are in the item description (Making Me Nervous through Work out Fine) and in the files' tags.

Checked: twelve tracks, no gaps. This is a lossy mirror; the artist's own Bandcamp offers FLAC of the remaster, which would be a different edition (and a non-Archive.org webseed, which the builder does not yet take). Staged as the copy that was actually released free in 2003.
