The Record
Jared C. Balogh’s Detaching Realities Vol.2 accompanies its thirteen compositions with unusually detailed writing notes: keys, meters, tempo figures, instrumental palettes and dates. The artist frames the series as jazz interpretation of contrasting emotional states, while crediting Alexander Morgenstern’s cover artwork. ‘RAGE, REVENGE, RECLUSE, RECOVERY’ opens and ‘True Grit Of A K-9’ closes; other pieces include ‘747 Intergalactic Boogaloo’ and ‘Enchiladas Pots.’ The listed instruments range from winds and strings to synths and unconventional percussion.
