Landscapes Of Late

Northbound · 33 min

Northbound's Landscapes of Late introduces Mikko Roisko and Olli Jäderholm's first release together and individually, according to their Monotonik statement. The southern Finland duo describes a living-room studio with guitars, bass, amplifiers, microphones, other instruments and computers, using samples mainly for instruments they could not play or afford. Six tracks move from “Forward” and “Torches” through “Little Thieves,” “Dawn Stroll” and “The Excuse” to “Funny Stones,” where the label specifically highlights melodica. The combination of played instruments and selective sampling is the EP's concrete production premise, distinct from treating its chilled electronic setting as entirely synthesized.
