The Record

Phil Lesh's Bonnaroo lineup includes Joan Osborne on lead vocals, John Scofield and Larry Campbell on guitars, Rob Barraco on keys and John Molo on drums. The first set travels from “Uncle John's Band” through “Cumberland Blues,” “Big River” and the abbreviated source-labeled “Scarlet”/“Fire” sequence. Set two moves through “Shakedown,” “New Speedway Boogie,” feedback and “Caution,” the latter marked with Joan's rap. “Gimme Shelter,” “Not Fade Away,” “Midnight Hour” and “Franklin's Tower” form the late stretch. “Box of Rain” follows the donor appeal, retaining Lesh's recurring public message within this festival recording.
