The Record

The Love Songs’ Dresden release documents Sven Swift’s June 2007 DIY2.0 festival set, recorded by Alexander Peterhaensel. The notes describe a single roughly twenty-five-minute drone performance made with analog synthesizers and effect feedback, framed by nightingale sounds. The archive divides it into four named ‘Nachtegall’ sections: ‘Ascensus,’ ‘Excelsus,’ ‘Sublimis’ and ‘Descensus.’ Audience chatter, city sound and a passing ambulance are explicitly part of the captured setting.
