The Record
Wiz Khalifa released Kush & OJ as a free download on April 14, 2010. It arrived after his departure from Warner Bros. and before the mainstream breakthrough of “Black and Yellow.” Reverb's recording history draws on interviews with his collaborators to explain how that period shaped the Pittsburgh rapper's project.
The tape places “Mezmorized,” “The Kid Frankie,” “Never Been” and “Good Dank” among songs and radio-style skits. Its sources stretch across soul, pop and game music. Recording collaborator Dan describes playing guitar for “Good Dank” to create the feel of a sample, a useful reminder that the production combines newly played parts with borrowed recordings.
The original reference has twenty tracks, including “We're Done.” Reporting on the streaming reissue identifies that song's removal and other alterations connected to samples. The selected download preserves that twenty-track 2010 sequence, including “We're Done.”
