The Record
Ergo Phizmiz’s The Faust Cycle, also called The House of Dr Faustus, is a long-form radiophonic fable written and recorded between 2006 and 2009. A parcel delivery opens the story of a labyrinthine house, told through speech, songs, collage and sound design. The source divides the work into five chunks and credits contributors including James Nye, Margita Zalite, Martha Moopette, Bela Emerson and Zenith Pitts, with cello/electronics, voices, trumpet, violin and field recordings identified in particular sections. Its detailed cue notes describe scenes within those chunks; they are not a conventional list of short standalone songs.
