The Record
The Grateful Dead's Gainesville recording starts “Alabama Getaway” into “The Promised Land,” then moves through “Candyman,” “Row Jimmy” and the “Mama Tried”/“Mexicali Blues” pairing. The late first set links “Lost Sailor,” “Saint of Circumstance” and “Don't Ease Me In.” Set two begins with “Shakedown Street” and “Franklin's Tower,” then sends “Estimated Prophet” through “He's Gone” and “Truckin'” toward drums and space. “The Other One,” “Stella Blue” and “Good Lovin'” finish that path before “Casey Jones.” Two short patches from Jim Wise's separate audience recording distinguish the chosen transfer's repairs from its main microphone source.
