The Record

The Grateful Dead's Charlotte show gives “Playing in the Band” a returning role in set two, with “Terrapin Station” leading into its first appearance and “Not Fade Away” into the later reprise. Drums and space sit between, followed by “Black Peter.” The first set begins “The Promised Land,” contains “Stagger Lee,” “Looks Like Rain” and “Row Jimmy,” and finishes on “Deal.” “Samson and Delilah” and “Tennessee Jed” open the second half, with “U.S. Blues” as the encore. Two short repairs use another Nakamichi recording, pitch-adjusted to match Joani Walker's main audience tape.
