The Record
The Grateful Dead's Golden Hall recording indexes a substantial amount of tuning, chatter and dead air around the songs. Phil's opening remark precedes “New Minglewood Blues,” while another spoken entry identifies “Jerry's problem” before “Looks Like Rain.” The first set moves from “Mexicali Blues” into “Me and My Uncle” and ends with “Let It Grow” into “Promised Land.” Set two begins “Jack Straw,” then passes “Dancing in the Street” and “Samson and Delilah” toward “Playing in the Band,” drums, “Not Fade Away” and “Around and Around.” Tape stops explain several abrupt transitions in this audience edition.
