The Record
The Grateful Dead's Long Beach show includes guests in both song and percussion sections. Matt Kelly is marked on “Little Red Rooster” and “Around and Around,” while Airto Moreira and Flora Purim join drums and space. The first set opens “Bertha” into “Greatest Story Ever Told,” with “Bird Song,” “Passenger” and “Candyman” among later selections. “Cold Rain and Snow” starts set two before “Estimated Prophet” leads into “The Wheel.” After the guest-expanded percussion sequence, “The Other One” and “Stella Blue” move toward “Good Lovin',” and “Brokedown Palace” supplies the encore. Tuning entries remain at both openings.
