The Record

The Grateful Dead's January 7 Madison Square Garden show was rescheduled from November 30, 1978, according to the notes. “Jack Straw,” “Jack-A-Roe,” “Stagger Lee” and “Passenger” appear in the first set; the second opens “I Need a Miracle” into “Shakedown Street” before “From the Heart of Me.” “Estimated Prophet” and “Eyes of the World” lead through drums and space toward “Not Fade Away” and “Black Peter,” with “Good Lovin'” as the encore. The recording notes describe serious PA failure during “Black Peter.”
