The Record

The Grateful Dead's September 19 Madison Square Garden program begins “Jack Straw” and “Bertha,” then closes the first set with “Help on the Way,” “Slipknot!” and “Franklin's Tower.” Set two sends “Playing in the Band” into “Ship of Fools” and a returning Playing theme before “Uncle John's Band” and “Let It Grow.” Jam, drums and two separately indexed space files lead to “Goin' Down the Road Feelin' Bad,” “Stella Blue” and “Around and Around,” with “The Mighty Quinn” as the encore.
