The Record
The Grateful Dead’s April 1, 1984 Marin County performance opens with ‘Jack Straw’ and ‘Friend of the Devil’ before the combined ‘Me and My Uncle > Mexicali Blues’ entry. The second set begins with the linked ‘Help On the Way,’ ‘Slipknot!’ and ‘Franklin’s Tower’ sequence, then moves through ‘Terrapin Station,’ ‘Drums’ and ‘Space’ toward ‘Morning Dew.’ ‘Touch of Grey’ is the encore. The transfer’s boundaries are especially relevant here: ‘Drums’ occupies two files across a disc break, and the first-set ‘Tennessee Jed’ is incomplete at its beginning.
