The Record
Grateful Dead's December 26, 1979 performance at Oakland Auditorium Arena in Oakland, CA is preserved in this recording.
The Oakland package includes a soundcheck as well as the concert, with David Gans credited for that additional recording. Joani Walker's main tape is supplemented by short patches in “He's Gone” and “Space” from separately described sources. “Uncle John's Band” appears at the start of the second set and returns in the encore. Those repetitions and extra soundcheck files distinguish this edition from a songs-only rendering of the evening. The source recording and release notes document this edition.
