The Record

The Grateful Dead's Swing Auditorium show connects “China Cat Sunflower,” “I Know You Rider,” “Estimated Prophet,” “He's Gone” and “Eyes of the World” in its second-set opening. The taper recalls the concert taking place in the days after John Lennon’s murder, giving the San Bernardino performance a specific historical setting. The first set begins “Alabama Getaway” and “Greatest Story Ever Told,” with “Althea,” “Peggy-O” and “Tennessee Jed” later. Two drums files and space precede “Truckin'” and “Wharf Rat,” ending with “Good Lovin'” and a “Don't Ease Me In” encore. Cable trouble and tape repairs distinguish this source.
