The Record

This Grateful Dead Wembley recording includes Sam Cutler’s introduction with ‘Greatest Story Ever Told’ and preserves talk and tuning intervals alongside the songs. The second set’s ‘The Other One’ appears on either side of ‘El Paso,’ while a later ‘Not Fade Away’ brackets ‘Goin’ Down The Road Feelin’ Bad.’ The remaster combines two audience masters, one substantially weaker than the other according to its creator. The April 7, 1972 edition combines the two audience perspectives, with their different recording quality disclosed in the remasterer’s account. Its song transitions and spoken intervals document the Wembley performance across those sources.
