The Record

Jerry Joseph and the Jackmormons' Mill recording includes Steve James on guitar throughout the performance and Steve Drizos on percussion for set two. “Gunsmoke,” “Prince of Denmark” and “Both of You” open the first set, which reaches “Under the Lilacs,” “Tight” and “Kind of Place.” The second moves from “Cool Hand Love” through “Touchless Automatic,” “Speedwater,” “Muzzle” and “Cloud Eyes” toward “Belmont Radiator,” “Goat” and “Thistle.” A separately indexed story precedes the “Swimming to Phuket” encore. That guest-expanded second half and preserved talk make the seventeen-file Iowa City program more specific than its abbreviated song-only narrative.
