New Riders of the Purple Sage's June 20, 1976 performance at Astor Theatre in Reading,Pa is preserved in this recording.
The New Riders program moves through “Panama Red,” “Henry” and “Portland Woman,” with covers such as “Take a Letter Maria” and “The Swimming Song” broadening the set. The recording notes disclose pauses and a cut in “Hard to Handle” when the deck shut off. That missing material matters even with a long song list present; the Astor Theatre package should not be described as an uninterrupted complete performance. The source recording and release notes document this edition.
