The Record

Steve Wynn's McCabe's evening changes ensemble between its two sets. The first is billed solo but includes Robert Fisher on “Flying Low,” then Kirk Swan and Duane Jarvis across several later songs with mandolin/acoustic-guitar roles distinguished. The second is explicitly a Dream Syndicate reunion with Wynn, Paul B. Cutler, Mark Walton and Dennis Duck. “My Old Haunts,” “Tell Me When It's Over,” “Boston” and “Merrittville” lead toward “The Days of Wine and Roses,” then the “John Coltrane Stereo Blues” encore. Those lineup changes make the two-disc document a particular reunion evening rather than a single uniform solo recital.
