Split (2006)

Junique Fois Pi / Hermelin · 2006 · 43 min

12rec's Junique Fois Pi/Hermelin split pairs a Hanover instrumental-rock quartet with a Cologne trio working between noise and post-rock. The label describes Hermelin emerging from earlier grunge/alternative roots toward melodic, wordless dynamics, and Junique Fois Pi using upfront distorted bass and carefully placed jazz-like ideas. Seven tracks run from “Petit Craque,” “Changement” and “Clapotation” to “Plus,” “Nova Police,” “Meskalin Blonde” and “Angesichts Verlassener Viertel.” Junique Fois Pi supplies the first four pieces, ending its side with “Plus.” Hermelin follows with “Nova Police,” “Meskalin Blonde” and “Angesichts Verlassener Viertel,” giving each band its own part of the seven-track split.
